The DEXA scanner sends low-dose x-rays through your body to measure your lean muscle mass, subcutaneous fat, visceral fat, and bone density.
This scanner costs upwards of $100,000 and is by far the most accurate method of understanding your body composition.
We’ll start with a few quick questions to get to know you and set up your scan.
Next, you’ll lie face up on the scanner for about five minutes while it captures a detailed snapshot of your body.
Once that’s done, we’ll generate your reports and walk you through everything, step by step.
We believe our greatest value happens after the scan. Some places hand you a print-out report and send you on your way. Not us!
After your scan, we briefly go over some key metrics and answer your questions. Furthermore, we also generate our own in-house report ON TOP of the report generated by the scanner to further help frame your results relative to the average population.
Unlike other places, our DEXA program is led by a licensed physician. Our medical director, Dr. Jesse Gill, ensures your post-scan reports are up-to-date with the latest research. We also offer the option to have your DEXA scan reviewed by a physician if you'd like tailored guidance how to meet your health goals.
Our DEXA scan provides a whole-body bone density screening to help you understand your bone health and how it compares to others your age and gender.
It is not a diagnostic test for conditions like osteoporosis or osteopenia, which typically require targeted hip and spine scans performed in a clinical setting.
Bone density data is limited to ages 20-80 with max weight approximately 300 lbs (or BMI of 40).
